How to locate with the vLoc3-Pro

1

Sweep the area, then put a signal on the line

Start with a passive sweep for power and radio signals. In Omni Peak, one zig-zag pass picks up lines at any angle. Then hook the transmitter to the line, clamp around it, or induce the signal, and follow the arrows to the peak.

2

Read depth and current, even from off to the side

Set the tip on the ground across the line and press the i key for depth and current. If something is in the way, the Vector screen gives depth and side distance without standing right over the line.

What the vLoc3-Pro finds

  • Metal pipe and cable traced with a transmitter, or passively from power and radio signals already on the line.
  • The line you hooked up to a sudden drop in current points to a tee, a fault or a jump to another line.
  • Plastic pipe and sewer camera heads track a sonde pushed through the line.
  • Ground faults with the optional A-frame, it works as a cable fault locator and finds coating defects on pipe.
