How multi-frequency locating works on the Rex

1

Put a signal on the line

Clip the transmitter onto the line at a hydrant, gas meter or transformer box, close the optional clamp around it, or set it on the ground over a line you can't reach. Clipped on, it sends at 512 Hz, 33 kHz or 82 kHz. Otherwise it uses 33 or 82 kHz.

2

Follow the arrows and take a depth reading

Set the receiver to the same frequency. The arrows point you toward the line, and the center bar lights with a beep when you're over it. Extend the receiver, set the tip on the ground at the peak and press DEPTH.

What the Rex finds

  • Pipes water, sewer and gas lines.
  • Cables electric and telecom lines.
  • Live power energized cables, found with the receiver alone in power mode.
  • Plastic pipe push a 512 Hz sonde through it and follow the sonde, about 5 to 15 ft down.
