Which Schonstedt magnetic locator fits the job?
The two-knob standard
The Schonstedt GA-52Cx is the classic stick: two knobs, a tone that climbs as you close in, and no screen to read. It finds a manhole cover to about 10 ft and a well casing to about 18 ft.
Lighter, with push buttons
The Schonstedt Spot reaches as deep as the GA-52Cx in a lighter body with push buttons. At $1,110, it's the lowest-priced Schonstedt we sell.
A screen with polarity
The Schonstedt GA-72Cd adds a screen with signal strength and a plus or minus reading, so you can tell one end of a target from the other. It works in snow or standing water as long as the electronics stay out.
Slides shut for storage
The Schonstedt GA-92XTd has a screen and push buttons, and its shaft slides from 26 in. down to 15.5 in. so it stores in a small space. Use it open, closed or anywhere in between.
What a Schonstedt magnetic locator finds
Each one picks up iron and steel: valve boxes, curb boxes, manhole covers, cast iron pipe, well casings and survey markers. It stays quiet over aluminum, brass and copper, and a burbling sound warns you near a live power line.
HeliFlux sensors and a 7-year warranty
The GA-52Cx and GA-72Cd use Schonstedt's patented HeliFlux sensors. All four models carry Schonstedt's 7-year limited warranty, or 1 year for military and EOD use. If a locator under warranty needs work, call us first.

Questions
How much does a Schonstedt magnetic locator cost?
Ours run from $1,110 for the Spot to $1,348 for the GA-72Cd. The GA-52Cx is $1,236 and the GA-92XTd is $1,306.
Which Schonstedt is best?
It depends on how you work. The GA-52Cx is the simple two-knob tone locator. Choose the GA-72Cd or GA-92XTd for a screen with a plus or minus reading, the GA-92XTd when storage space is tight, or the Spot to spend less.
How deep does a Schonstedt find buried iron?
It depends on the model and the target. The GA-52Cx and Spot find a manhole cover up to about 10 feet down and a well casing up to about 18 feet. The GA-92XTd reaches 9 and 16 feet, and the GA-72Cd 8 and 15 feet.
