Which Fisher locator do you need?

Valve boxes and buried metal

The Fisher M-66 is an all-metal detector for finding valve boxes and other buried metal, even through concrete and asphalt. Two knobs and a meter keep it simple, and a ground control holds the reading steady over mineral soil.

Pipe and cable, known or lost

The Fisher TW-6 is a split-box line locator. Its transmitter puts a signal on a buried metal pipe or cable and the receiver follows it, so you can find lost or unknown lines as well as trace the ones you know. It also picks up valves, tees and paved-over manholes along a main.

For utility work, not hobby detecting

Fisher also makes metal detectors for hobby use. We don't carry those. The M-66 and TW-6 are Fisher tools made for utility crews, and they're the ones we sell and service.

M-66 and TW-6 parts and repair

When a Fisher locator needs work, Joe Malone tests it, checks the controls and replaces worn parts like coils, switches, latches and covers.

Questions

How much does a Fisher locator cost?

Our Fisher locators start at $532 for the M-66, and the TW-6 is $908. Request a quote and we'll respond in writing.

Is the Fisher M-66 a line locator?

No. The M-66 is a metal detector for valve boxes and other buried metal, and Fisher says not to use it in place of a line tracer. To find and follow pipe and cable, use the TW-6.

Can a Fisher locator find plastic pipe?

Not the pipe itself. Push a fish tape or plumber's snake through it and trace that with the TW-6. Shallow foil tracer tape, 8 or 10 inches down, can also be found with the M-66.
