How to trace a line with the vLoc3-9800

1

Sweep first, then put a signal on the line

Walk the area in power or radio mode to check for lines before you push in the ground stake. Then hook the transmitter to the line, clamp around it, or set it over the line to induce the signal. A direct hookup works best.

2

Follow the tone, then read depth and current

On a long, open run, use Auto Left/Right and follow the tone. On a crowded site, switch to Manual Peak to compare lines. Set the receiver on the ground over the line and press the i key for depth and current.

What the vLoc3-9800 finds

  • Metal pipe and cable traced with a transmitter signal by direct hookup, clamp or induction.
  • Plastic pipe and sewer camera heads track a sonde pushed through the line.
  • Cable faults and EMS markers with the optional A-frame or the vLoc3-MLA marker adapter.
