The Schonstedt u-Locate Transmitter puts a signal on a buried metal pipe or cable for the u-Locate and u-Locate+ receivers. It runs on four D cells and stores its leads, stake and magnet in a tray in the case.

How to connect the u-Locate Transmitter

Direct connect for the strongest signal

Clip the red lead to clean metal at a valve, meter or hydrant, or use the magnet if the clip won't open wide enough. Run the black lead to the ground stake, set off to the side. When the tone drops, you're connected.

Induction when you can't reach the line

Set the transmitter on the ground over the line with the arrows on the case pointing along it, then walk at least 33 ft away to locate. Induction runs on 82 kHz.
